Since its debut in 1963, the epoch-making Porsche 911 has captivated generations of sports car enthusiasts. Over the years, various models of the 911 have been released, including the 1998 Le Mans-winning 911 GT1. In 1999, the heart of that automotive masterpiece, the water-cooled flat-six engine, was inherited by the Porsche 911 GT3. The brainchildren behind that machine are Porsches development engineers in Weissach, who imbued it with superior agility and handling, without compromising active safety. Capable of accelerating to 100km/h in a mere 4.8 seconds, and with a top speed of 302km/h, the GT3 achieved a new record for production cars when it completed a lap on the northern circuit of Nuerburgring in only 7.56 minutes. The exterior appearance of the GT3 remains true to that of its predecessors, but features a new rear end, discreet side-sills, fixed rear wing, red brake calipers and sporty 18-inch light-alloy wheels. Compared with the 911 Carrera, the four-piston aluminum fixed monobloc brake calipers are larger and sturdier than before, and tightly grip the perforated brake discs. The GT3 cockpit is true reflection of its performance. It features leather-covered bucket seats, which ensure not only ample side support, but also comfort on long journeys and provide about 20kg of weight savings. And since the entire rear-seat section of the car has been dropped, the overall weight of the GT3 was reduced by another 8kg-a true benefit for a sports car of this performance level.
Tamiya has recreated this epoch-making sports car in 1/24 scale. The intricate engine is visible when model is viewed from below. The upper surface features a four part rear-wing construction, enhancing the sophistication of the body design. Kit also comes with the Porsche emblem, authentically recreated as a metal transfer. The inside of the detailed cockpit includes a carpet seat for the floor. Glossy metallic parts are used on the wheels, headlight reflectors, door mirrors and muffler.
Tamiya proudly releases the Porsche 911 Turbo, further expanding our line of Porsche 911 series of models. Famed as the culmination of the 911 series, the Turbo's impressive design and performance made it the most well known member of the 911 series.

About the Model
Porsche, which had established a great reputation for making sports cars with their 911 models, released a new flagship model called the 928 in March 1977. It featured a front-mounted liquid-cooled V8 engine and rear-mounted transmission to enable a 50:50 front/rear weight distribution as well as a Weissach Axle rear suspension system. In 1979, a version with enhanced performance called the 928S was announced. The engine displacement was increased from 4,474cc to 4,664cc which resulted in sixty more horsepower for a total of 300hp and a top speed of over 250km/h. Externally, the 928S featured a new wheel design, front and rear spoilers, and a distinctive crease line along the body sides to differentiate it from the standard 928. The 1/24 scale Tamiya model faithfully replicates this iconic Porsche of the 1980s.

The Porsche Boxter, with its horizontally placed 6-cylinder engine and rear wheel drive attracted fans around the globe with its unique style. Owners were always tempted to build upon this uniqueness by adding option parts not only for performance enhancement, but also for style. Customization known as Porsche Tequipment became popular for provinding option parts for Porsches and other cars to dealers. Eventually, Porsche produced a splendid array of its own option parts and ventured into a program known as Porsche Exclusive that enabled Porsche owners to receive close support on customizing their cars. In addition to body material and color selection some of the options included lowering clearance for better handling, adding a larger stabilizer, and attaching reinforced shock absorbers. Option packages such as a sports chassis package and automated control system (PSM) for increased stability were also available for owners to create their very own one-of-a-kind Porsche. When the Porsche Boxster made its debut in 1996, it too became a popular model to customize. The Boxsters affinity for customization became particularly apparent during the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show, when crowds gathered around a yellow, customized Boxster that featured two bumps on the rear section and was specially designed under the Porsche Exclusive program. With its body, as well mesh wheels and roll bars all painted bright speed yellow, the car displayed as Porshce Boxster special edition drew considerable attention with it speedy and original style.

Only Porsche, committed to sports car racing, could make a racing version and production version of a sports car nearly identical. The Porsche 911 GT2 was first developed in 1995 to compete in sports car races and GT2 class circuits. The guts of this racing machine consist of 6-speed, rear-wheel drive transmission, powered by a rear installed 3600cc air-cooled V6 engine with 450hp of output. The street legal version had its output reduced to 430hp, still deemed more than enough for public roads, and featured the added comfort of nice air conditioning and the luxury of great audio. Intended as a means of practical transportation on workdays and for weekend warrior circuit racing on off-days, the compact Porsche 911 GT2 Road Version brought unprecedented delight to sports car fans all over the globe.
