BasswoodA domestic wood grown in northern Michigan. Its economy, workability, and finishing qualities make it ideal for a wide variety of hobby and craft projects. A favorite of woodcarvers, basswood takes paint well or may be stained to represent almost any hardwood. Basswood is often confused with balsa because of the name similarity and its light color, but bass is harder and heavier than balsa. |
