Grown in the humid tropical rain forests of South America, our balsa is carefully dried in special kilns to create this lightweight, strong wood with a very porous grain. Easy to cut and carve, balsa is well suited to all types of modeling projects.

Basswood

A domestic wood grown in northern Michigan. Its economy, workability, and finishing qualities make it ideal for a wide variety of hobby and craft projects. A favorite of woodcarvers, basswood takes paint well or may be stained to represent almost any hardwood. Basswood is often confused with balsa because of the name similarity and its light color, but bass is harder and heavier than balsa.

Thin Plywood

A popular wood for all types of woodworking projects. Available in two species: Aircraft grade Birch and Micro-Lite® Poplar plywood. Thin plywood sheets take paint and varnish well and produce an outstanding finished piece. Requires a saw for cutting.
